This is a walking tour through the most characteristic and important places in the historical centre of Venice in 1.5 hours. An essential tour for the understanding of Venice!
Your guide will bring you through the millennium of life in the Serenissima Republic, recalling the charm filled past of this unique city.
First, we will explore Piazza San Marco. Your guide will give you insights into the history, characteristics of the main monuments: St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, Bell Tower, Clock Tower and Procuratie Vecchie.
Stroll through Campo Santa Maria Formosa, one of the largest square in Venice, and hear about its history and anecdotes.
Next is Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo Square with the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo – one of Venice’s two biggest churches – the “Pantheon” of the city.
Your guide takes you to the corner of Marco Polo’s House and Malibran Theatre, and tell you the anecdotes and past and recent history cross each other.
Then head back to San Marco through the Mercerie, the vital connection between Rialto and San Marco and the city’s main shopping street.
