  • Location: Bangkok
  • Product code: Day Tours BKK

Discover the ancient UNESCO-listed city of Ayutthaya and the grand summer palace of Bang Pa In in one unforgettable day trip, with return transport from Bangkok, an expert guide and lunch included!

You'll step back into the ancient history of Thailand by exploring the famous temples of Ayutthaya – the old capital of the Kingdom of Thailand. After driving to Ayutthaya, your expert local guide will take you through the remains of the city, showing you all of the most famous landmarks and telling their story.

Ayutthaya was sadly ransacked and plundered by the Burmese in April 1767, and although many buildings were damaged or destroyed you can still get an amazing sense of what this place must have once been like. There are so many temples here, roughly 400 years old and some are still in amazing condition.

Once you have explored the incredible temples of Ayutthaya, including Wat Phra Si Sanphet (the most important temple of the city) you will enjoy a tasty Thai lunch before your journey continues to Bang Pa In.

Bang Pa In is the royal Summer Palace and sits on the bank of the Chao Phraya River surrounded by amazing gardens. It has been home to a number of Thai Kings since it was built in 1632, and your guide will tell you its history as you explore and take photos.

Your tour ends with travel back to Bangkok, where you will be dropped off at a convenient place near the centre of the city.
