This is a 2-hour walking tour step by step up to Piazzale Michelangelo, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Florence.
The tour starts from the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Walk along the Arno River and arrive at an ancient and hidden staircase in the Oltrarno. From here, you will climb to Piazzale Michelangelo, the terrace that reveals a magnificent view over Florence.
Piazzale Michelangelo, built in the 19th century, is a monument dedicated to the Michelangelo Buonarroti. The 19th-century replica of David stands out in the middle of the square.
On the hill, we will visit the Romanesque church Basilica of San Miniato al Monte. From San Miniato you can enjoy the stunning panorama of the city.
Another place to visit in San Miniato is the Cemetery of the Holy Doors, a monumental churchyard where, among others, the director Franco Zeffirelli and Carlo Collodi, Pinocchio’s father, rest.
