Discover Madrid’s most famous art on this guided tour of three of the city’s most famous museums.
El Prado Museum
Admire the works of artists like El Greco, Goya o Velazquez while exploring the museum and learning about its history. Look for a collection of artworks that spans the 16th and 19th centuries, has more than 2,300 paintings, and includes works from as early as 1657. Some of the rare masterpieces you will find are “Las Meninas,” and another is “El Jardn de las Delicias.”
Reina Sofía Museum
Explore the creations of some of the greatest 20th-century artists, such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Find out how and why these talented individuals produced their art by visiting the Reina Sofia Museum’s several halls and pieces of art. Learn about the history of the structure, which was formerly a hospital that Philip II ran in the 16th century. Before continuing our art tour to the Thyssen Museum, you will have a little stop for lunch (on your own).
Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Discover the largest private collection of art. It has artwork from the 13th century all the way up to the late 20th century. Discover the works of ancient and contemporary artists in one of the most significant private collections owned by the Thyssen-Bornemisza family, such as Degas’ Swaying Dancer or Picasso’s Harlequin with a Mirror.
Our guide will fill the historical gaps in its counterpart collections: in the case of the Prado, this includes Italian primitives and works by the English, Dutch, and German, while in the case of the Reina Sofía, it is impressionists, expressionists, and European and American paintings of the 20th century.
